GRC Officer Nomination List 2023

Over the next two weeks, the elders wanted to allow the congregation to come to us with any questions or concerns regarding these individuals and the offices they would be filling. Below are the biblical qualifications for each office. Please read these passages and the list below and contact the elders if you have any serious concerns about why these men may need to be qualified to serve our congregation in these official roles (elders@gracereformed.org).

We will vote on these officers at our quarterly business meeting on December 3rd, 2023.

Elder Qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9)

Above reproach

The husband of one wife

His children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination,

submissive

Must manage his household well

Must be well thought of by outsiders

Not a recent convert

Not arrogant

Not quick-tempered

Not a drunkard

Not violent

Not quarrelsome

Not greedy for gain

Hospitable

A lover of good

Respectable

Sober-minded

Self-controlled

Upright

Holy

Disciplined

Must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give

instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it

Deacon Qualifications (1 Timothy 3:8-13)

Must be dignified

Not double-tongued

Not addicted to much wine

Not greedy for dishonest gain

Must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.

Blameless.

Wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things.

Husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.
